22 February, 2025The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition Records Highest Participation in a Decade

Jointly organized by The United Planters’ Association of Southern India (UPASI) and the Tea Board of India, the competition aims to showcase South India’s finest teas to a global audience.
Coonoor: The 20th Edition of The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA: STC) has witnessed a record-breaking response, receiving 183 entries from 60 estates across various tea-growing regions in South India.
This marks the highest participation in the competition’s history over the past ten years.
The competition follows a three-tier selection process, beginning with an initial tea tasting by an Indian jury, followed by laboratory analysis, and concluding with a final tasting by an international panel.
Additionally, participants have the opportunity to showcase and sell their premium teas at the TGLIA Special Auction.
The First Level Screening for this year’s edition is scheduled to take place on 7th March 2025 in Coimbatore, coinciding with the National Convention of South Indian Teas.
